Records Division
The Records Division is responsible for manual filing and entering data into the department's computer system. This includes all incident reports, accident reports, arrest reports, traffic citations, field interviews, and city court management. The Records Division is responsible for the distribution and retention of all reports and citations utilized by the Kingsport Police Department. In 2009, Records Division processed 3,055 Collision Reports (which is a 2.21% reduction), 8,145 Criminal Incident Reports (which is a decrease of 22%), and 15,549 citations and warning citations (which is a 19.8% decrease from 2008). Each of these are entered or audited by Records Division. The Records Division serves as a customer service point and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The City Court Clerk and City Court Recorder are also important functions of the Records Division. During calendar year 2009, a total of $1,390,586.77 was collected through City Court. These monies were collected through the payment of traffic fines, Redflex Camera Enforcement Citation, parking fines, and code enforcement fines. Monies collected through City Court/Records Division decreased by approximately 25.5% in 2009.
