The officers of the Kingsport Police Department patrol a city with a population of 44,191, is 46.44 square miles in size, and encompasses land in Sullivan and Hawkins Counties of Tennessee. The city has 434 miles of roadway, including 24.69 miles of interstate highways.

In 2007, the Patrol Division conducted 48,968 investigations based on citizen complaints. These calls for service resulted in 4,499 arrests. Included in these arrests were 561 drug related arrests. Additionally, Kingsport Police Department members conducted 35,963 self-initiated actions dealing with hazardous conditions, traffic code violations, business checks, and other officer activities. Officers in our Patrol Division seized 15 vehicles for DUI /Revoked offenses and 22 vehicles for drug offenses.
