Evidence / Property / Storage Unit
The Evidence/Property Unit has responsibility for all items entering the possession of the Kingsport Police Department. These items were received from officers of the Kingsport Police Department, the Second Judicial Drug Task Force, and Special Agents of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The Evidence/Property Unit received 2,538 items in 2010. This is a decrease of 1,600 items from 2009, which is a decrease of 38.67%.
During the calendar year of 2010, the Evidence Custodian disposed of 807 pieces of evidence and found/abandoned property, which is a decrease of 77.93% from 2009. Additionally, the Evidence officer serves as the Department’s Quartermaster, who is responsible for maintaining equipment, supplies, and uniforms for the Department’s 118 sworn members. He also maintains equipment, supplies, and uniforms for the Department's Volunteers and the Reserve Police Officers.
